Using These Resources in Your Program

We want employers and supervisors to move beyond “paper for the sake of paper.” These tools are most effective when they are built into real routines and expectations on site.

  • Connect each tool to a duty. Make it clear which employer, supervisor, or worker responsibility the resource supports.
  • Make it part of a routine. For example, daily site inspections at the start of shift, toolbox talk forms used at least weekly, or monthly housekeeping checks.
  • Train people how to use them. Don’t just hand out a form—explain what “good” looks like when it’s filled out properly.
  • Review and adjust. Look at completed forms and checklists regularly to see if they are helping you control hazards or if they need improvement.
  • Keep records organized. Store completed documents in a way that makes it easy to demonstrate due diligence if there is an inspection or incident.
